Osama’s right hand man’s privacy proceedings are costing Brit taxpayers dearly
London, June 20 : Radical Islamist preacher, Abu Qatada described as Osama bin Laden’s “right-hand man in Europe, is using British taxpayers' cash again in a new legal battle to protect his privacy.
Qatada wants to ban pictures of himself because he reckons they breach his human rights.
The radical Muslim preacher, who already claims 1,000 pounds a month in benefits for himself and his family, is dipping into the taxpayers money and paying for his latest court battle with legal aid.
Qatada has told his lawyers to get a court order to stop pictures of him being used.
The news comes just 24 hours after the Daily Star reported that taxpayers are already footing a 500,000 pounds bill to give him round-the-clock protection from vigilante attacks.
Qatada, 47, was released from prison on Tuesday night after winning a court battle in April against deportation.
His freedom sparked fury among Brits who want Qatada sent back to his native Jordan. Qatada has been convicted there of terror offences in his absence. (ANI)
