Oregon Family Forced To Leave Plane Due To Misunderstanding about Autistic Daughter

An Oregon mother said that last week her family was forced to get down a united Airlines flight due to a misunderstanding involving their autistic daughter.

Donna Beegle told KPTV that her family was travelling back to Oregon after a Disney World vacation this past Tuesday when her 15-year-old daughter, Juliette, was hungry during a layover in Houston.

Beegle told that she asked the flight attendant if they had anything hot to eat because her daughter is very particular about her food and she wanted to eat something hot to eat.

She further said Juliette won’t eat food if it’s cold she won’t eat it, and she would eat it only when steam will be rolling out of food.

Beegle said the attendant told her that they would serve warm meals to first class passengers only.

“The flight attendant said, 'There's not anything we can get you,' so I said, 'Well, how about we wait for her to have a meltdown, and start crying and she tries to scratch, and then you'll want to help her”, she said.

Beele said after Juliette started creating fuss the attendant brought her a meal as requested, and her daughter calmed down. But that was not the end of the matter.

Beegle said the plane made an emergency landing in Salt Lake City, and Beegle says police walked on board to take her family off the plane.

The police officers asked the Oregon family to leave the plane. Beegle said she asked them the reason for doing so and they said the captain of the plane does not feel comfortable flying to Portland with your daughter on the flight.

She said passengers aboard the plane were shouting to leave Juliette alone as there was no issue in flying with her.

The incident was captured on video by another passenger. Beegle confirmed the video's authenticity to KGW.
