Opt for space science: Madhavan Nair to students
The chairman of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Mr. G. Madhavan Nair, has called for the need to involve more students in space research program.
The highly potential space field has a number of employments and growth oriented opportunities and it needs more manpower to carry out space exploration for the development of the society.
Addressing the IIT-Bangalore graduates, Mr. Madhavan said: "It is sad that still not many students are attracted towards space research. More and more students should in fact opt for it as there is tremendous potential in the field to contribute towards development of society."
Mr. Madhavan asked the students to help India develop indigenous expertise in the space field, as many countries are not ready to co-operate in the space field, apparently, due to military reasons.
Hailing the success of India’s lunar mission, Chandrayaan-I, the ISRO chief said that it has established India as a competent nation in the field of space research.
Mr. Madhvan further added: "We are trying to get youngsters. The Indian Institute of Space Technology has been set up for this, and is working in that direction."
