Opposition demands Home Minster’s resignation, disrupts parliament
The main opposition group, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has demanded resignation of Home Minister P Chidambaram for his role n the 2G spectrum spam in 2008.
Chidambaram did not comment on a recent court order in the case but the government said that there is not question of his resignation. The demand for his resignation resulted in Parliament initially adjourned till 12 pm and then till 2 pm. The parliamentarians gathered again at 2 pm to begin a crucial discussion on price rise.
The opposition gathered momentum against the Home Minister after a Delhi court agreed to allow Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy to testify and present his case against the Home Minister in the case.
The NDA members stood on their feet demanding the resignation of the home minister after the Speaker Meira Kumar called for Question Hour in eh House. BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi said that Chidambaram should come forward to submit his resignation or else the Prime Minister should dismiss him due to his involvement in the case.
The government has std it ground saying that Mr. Chidambaram will not resign.
