Old is gold for the automobile consumer

AutomobileWhile the new cars in the Indian market have been able to make a lot of noise in the domestic circuit, but is it very interesting to note here that almost all the brands that are giving the newcomers a run for their money are almost a decade old in the country.

Be it the Maruti Suzuki Alto, M800, Hyundai Santro, Mahindra Bolero, Ford Ikon, Hyundai Accent or Tata Indica, they are still at the top of the mind when one thinks about buying a car. Sample this: Alto, Santro, Indica are the three best-selling passenger cars in the Indian market even at a time when they are almost a decade old in the Indian market. R. C. Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki said that the largest-selling cars in India are still the cheapest cars.

With Alto being the biggest volume gainer for Maruti, the company is planning to relaunch the model next month with a K-series engine for the Indian consumer. Factors like credibility and affordability are surely one of the strongest pillars in the strategy of these auto majors.
