Obama calls up ManmohanAnd finally it happened. The US President-elect Barack Obama called up Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday morning.

According to sources, during their discussion, the president elect said that the new administration wanted to work together with India on all important global issues. Obama stressed upon Indo-US strategic partnerships saying that it is very important at this juncture.

The Prime Minister congratulated Obama on his historic victory and said his success would be an inspiration for the oppressed people all over the world, according to PMO sources.

The PM said that the relationship between India and the US was "very good" but "we should not be satisfied with the status quo".

Singh also invited Obama and his wife Mitchelle to visit India, the sources said.

Earlier, there had been speculation that America's President-elect had ignored India, when making diplomatic calls to leaders around the world. Even he had talked to Pak President.

But the Prime Minister had later said that, Obama had in fact tried to speak to him but he could not because of scheduling issues.
