Nvidia has come up with its next generation Fermi computational graphics architecture for the mobile platform. It is posed that in the days to come laptop models shall be having chips that will support DirectX 11 level graphics, courtesy NVidia's GTX 480M Graphics card.

The latest graphic chip from Nvidia the Fermi based GTX 480M for laptops is three times more powerful with CUDA Cores (stream processors) than its predecessor. Also, Nvidia's GeForce GTX 480M has the turned down Fermi architecture based GF104 GPU chip. It is also tainted that GF104 chip comes with 352 stream processors or CUDA cores and the graphics engine clocked at 850MHz.

Although Nvidia didn't hint upon the specificities of video memory used but stated that it will clock at 1200MHz and 256-bit memory bandwidth. Also as the company states the utmost theoretical output of this graphics unit would be 897 GigaFLOPS. It is supposedly aimed opposite to the launch that saw the release of AMD's ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 GPUs for the mobile platform that led Nvidia release this model.
