Norwegian princess's mediation and healing centre generates loss

Martha LouiseOslo - A meditation and healing centre co-owned by Norwegian Princess Martha Louise has yet to turn a profit a year after it was launched, reports said Monday.

According to the online finance site NA24 the Astarte Education centre posted a loss of some 61,000 kroner (12,000 dollars) after tax for the first six-month period it was in operation.

In a joint statement, the princess and board chairman Elisabeth Samnoy, who each own half of the centre, said they were pleased with how the centre has developed and expected a positive result for full- year 2008.

Some eyebrows were raised in August 2007 when it was disclosed that the centre also offered courses on healing, self-development and how to get in touch with angels.

The princess, who is a qualified physiotherapist and a former member of the Norwegian showjumping team, in 2000 qualified as a Rosen practitioner.

On the Astarte Education website, the princess said that during her training with horses she learned how to communicate on a "deeper level" with the animals, and later became aware that she could communicate with angels.

Martha Louise, 36, daughter of King Harald and Queen Sonja, married author Ari Behn in 2002, and has published several books, some for children, under her own name.

The couple have two children and are expecting their third. (dpa)
