Nokia rolls out Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Star Trek Edition in UK
Just a few days ahead of the release of the Star Trek movie, Nokia has rolled out Star Trek Edition of its mega hit mobile phone Nokia 5800 XpressMusic in the UK market. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Star Trek Edition has been launched to celebrate the Star Trek movie, slated to be released on 08 May, 2009.
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Star Trek Edition is specifically designed to target Star Trek fans in the United Kingdom. The phone loaded with Star Trek content features animated screensavers, Star Trek wallpapers, and eight brand new ringtones including “Phazer Shot,” “Red Alert” and “Kelvin Communicator”.
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Star Trek Edition also comes with integrated Phaser application. The phone is available in brilliant shades of Red, Blue, Black and Silver. Technologically, the handset includes all the features of a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. It features a 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera with Carl Zeiss Optics, a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with tactile feedback, GPS capabilities, and an 8GB microSD card, with storage space expandable upto 16GB.
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Star Trek Edition is available for only £25 (approx. Rs. 1,839) per month exclusively via Phones4U. The handset is also available through Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and Orange with an equivalent price of $32.87/month contract.
Launching mobile phones or other tech products simultaneously with release of new movies is common trend, and Nokia has followed the trend. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Star Trek Edition is expected to benefit Nokia as well as the new Star Trek movie. However, it will be interesting to see how the movie and the phone perform in the UK.
