Nokia to launch more services to compete with Apple iPhone
The world's largest mobile phone manufacturer, Nokia Corporation, has been drawing out plans to beat its rival Apple's iPhone, launching new products and services. The company would emphasize more on the service sector, offering music, maps and related services to the customers.
Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, the Chief Executive of the company said, "The Company was aiming to be even more competitive following criticism that it had failed to come up with a handset to match the iPhone."
Mr. Kallasvuo, however, ruled out company's failure to compete iPhone adding that it has taken adequate measures for promoting Nokia's brand.
Though, no one can rule out Nokia's dominance in handset market but it has been facing stiff competition from Canadian maker of Blackberry. Apple and Research in motion have launched successful handsets, which resulted in dilution of Nokia's market share.
The company, whose market share declined from 49 per cent to 41 per cent, will refresh its smartphone strategy in next few weeks to come, launching devices based on Linux Operating System. It would also sell netbooks and mini mobile computers to maintain adequate growth level and to become the world's biggest provider of mobile services.
