Contract researcher GVK Biosciences Private Ltd has teamed up with Onconova Therapeutics Inc to develop new drugs for cancer.

US-based Onconova is a late-stage biopharmaceutical firm that mainly develops innovative treatments for the treatment of cancer and radiation injury.

As part of the joint partnership, the US firm will give two early-stage oncology discovery goals, and Hyderabad-based GVK will make use of its multidisciplinary discovery platform to assist moving these goals from early discovery to the stage of clinical development.

Employees of the grounded Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) have decided to drag the beleaguered company to court to get salaries due for nearly eight months.

Hyderabad, Jan 10 : MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi Thursday said the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh displayed its "communal mind" by booking serious cases against his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi.

The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MP told reporters that the Congress would have to pay a heavy political price in the next election.

Beijing, Jan 10 : Around 2.7 million Chinese people die from cancer every year. This means there is one death due to the disease every five minutes, says a government-recognised report.

About one in five Chinese people might develop cancer if they live to be 74, the China Daily cited the 2012 Cancer Registry Annual Report as saying.

There is one death from cancer every five minutes on the Chinese mainland, which translates into 2.7 million cancer deaths annually, the report said.

The figures were based on data collected from 72 cancer surveillance sites in 24 provinces, covering 85 million people.
