JSW Energy reports impressive jump in quarterly net profitPrivate-sector power utility JSW Energy enjoyed an impressive increase in its net profit during the three months ended June 30, 2013, thanks to lower costs and higher income.

In a statement, released on Friday, JSW said its net profit jumped from Rs 3.41 crore in the April-June quarter of FY2012-13 to Rs 214.26 crore in the corresponding three months of current financial year.

PNB seeks fund support of Rs 1,500 crore from governmentPunjab National Bank (PNB) on Friday announced that it had requested the government to provide it with a fund support of Rs 1,500 crore to help it improve its capital base.

The government-run lender announced the move after reporting a year-on-year increase of 2.4 per cent in net profit for the first quarter of current fiscal.

K R Kamath, chairman & managing director of PNB, said, "We have approached the government and sought Rs. 1,500 crore in the current fiscal."

Maruti Suzuki to make commercial vehicles

Maruti-Suzuki-LogoNew Delhi, July 27 : Passenger car market leader Maruti Suzuki Saturday said it would enter the commercial vehicle segment by developing a diesel-powered light commercial vehicle (LCV).

According to the company, it will develop a new version of Suzuki's LCV Carry which will be powered by a diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) engine option.

The company further said that its engineers would require a time period of two years to develop the new product from the existing Carry platform.

Pietersen hopeful for third Ashes test

Kevin-PietersenLondon, July 27 : England batsman Kevin Pietersen is hopeful to play the third Ashes Test against Australia starting Aug 1 at Old Trafford.

Pietersen sustained a calf injury in the second Test and missed the second innings for the hosts.

England took a 2-0 lead by winning the second Test by 347.

The England selectors will announce the squad Sunday and if they name an extra batsman, Pietersen is likely to miss the third Test, reports the Telegraph.
