New Delhi, July 24 : Inauguration of a public library and unveiling a statue of Mahatma Gandhi are some of the activities being organised by Rashtrapati Bhawan Thursday to mark President Pranab Mukherjee's one year in office.

The president will also interact with governors across the country through a video conferencing facility installed at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and host a dinner for the council of ministers.

The library building was a dilapidated structure which was scheduled for demolition. It was renovated into a public library for use by residents of the Rashtrapati Bhavan estate and their children.

Mumbai, July 24 : US Vice President Joe Biden Wednesday called for further expanding the growing economic cooperation with India and expressed hope that, if right choices are made, bilateral trade could grow five-fold.

Lauding India as "a rising power", Biden patted its plans for future growth, saying the country had risen exponentially during the past decade mainly due to bold steps towards liberalization it took in 1991.

In this context, Biden said trade between India and the US grew five-fold to touch $100 billion in the past 13 years.

He was speaking on 'US-India Partnership' at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

New Delhi, July 24 : Cairn India Wednesday declared an 18 percent fall in net profit at Rs. 3,127 crore for the first quarter ending June 30 from the like period of 2012.

It earned Rs. 31.27 billion for the quarter as compared to Rs. 38.25 billion a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter at Rs. 4,063 crore also declined 8 percent year-on-year.

Cash flow from operations for the quarter stood at Rs. 2,438 crore.

The company said it had achieved its highest ever gross operated production of 212,442 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), a 5 percent increase quarter-on-quarter.

New Delhi, July 24 : Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp Wednesday reported a 10.86 percent decline in net profit for the first quarter of the current fiscal, which stood at Rs. 548.58 crore from Rs. 615.46 crore in the corresponding quarter of the 2011-12 financial year.

The company's turnover which includes proceeds from net sales and other operating income declined marginally by 1.40 percent to Rs. 6,159.52 crore from Rs. 6,247.28 crore reported in the first quarter of last fiscal.

Thiruvananthapuram, July 24 : Kerala is ready to be one of the hosts of the 2017 U-17 World Cup if it is allocated to India by football world body FIFA, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Wednesday.

"We are agreeable to hosting the event in Kerala. We will soon ink a MoU with the (union) sports ministry," Chandy told reporters here Wednesday.

The union Government last month gave the go-ahead to India's ambitious bid to host the U-17 Football World Cup in 2017, that is already being backed by FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke.
