London - Dolphins are sensitive to magnetic stimuli, as they behave differently when swimming near magnetised objects, a new study has found.

The research by Dorothee Kremers and her colleagues at Ethos unit of the Universite de Rennes in France provides experimental behavioural proof that these marine animals are magnetoreceptive.

Magnetoreception implies the ability to perceive a magnetic field. It is supposed to play an important role in how some land and aquatic species orientate and navigate themselves, researchers said.

New Delhi, Sept. 30 - Microsoft Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella who was in New Delhi to participate in a Nasscom event said that his company has the most partner friendly approach and scale.

New Delhi: Diesel price is likely to be cut by about Re 1 per litre, the first reduction in rates in over five years, while petrol price may be slashed by Rs 1.75.

State-owned oil firms are likely to announce reduction in rates, made possible because of softening in international oil rates, this evening, government and industry sources said.

Under-recovery or the difference between retail price and its imported cost was wiped out and there was an over-recovery of 35 paise a litre from September 16. This over-recovery is now about Re 1 a litre.

Mumbai - No-frills carrier AirAsia has announced resumption of its flight services to Hyderabad from Kuala Lumpur and also offered a promotional all-inclusive fare of Rs 2,099 for a one-way journey.

The airline had discontinued the route in 2011.

"The recommencement of Hyderabad-Kuala Lumpur route will enable many guests to experience our 'fly-thru' service through Kuala Lumpur. The resumed service will also connect to other exciting domestic destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and many more," AirAsia head of commercial Spencer Lee said in a release.

Mumbai: The rupee weakened by nine paise to trade at a fresh seven-month low of 61.62 against the dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today following increased demand for the US currency from importers ahead of RBI's policy review.

A lower opening at the domestic equity market and the dollar's rise against other major currencies overseas also put pressure on the rupee, dealers said.

Yesterday, the rupee had tanked 38 paise to log nearly 7-month closing low of 61.53 against the Greenback following dollar demand from importers and some weakness in stocks ahead of the RBI policy review.

Mumbai: The benchmark BSE Sensex fell over 30 points in early trade on Tuesday on increased selling by funds and retail investors ahead of RBI's monetary policy review.

Continuing yesterday's weakness, the 30-share index moved further down by 30.38 points, or 0.11 per cent, to 26,566.73, with metal, FMCG, PSU, oil & gas and banking sector stocks leading the fall. The gauge had lost 29.21 points in the previous session.

Also, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty shed 11.25 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 7,947.65 in early trade.
