Documents from Washington Auditor's Office Turned Over to US Department Of Justice

Documents from the office of the Washington Auditor Troy Kelley's Office were given to the US Department of Justice after his home was searched by federal Treasury agents.

But it is not yet known that what officials have been searching. According to auditor's spokesman Thomas Shapley, the documents that were turned over Thursday were in response to a March 6 subpoena auditor's office. The spokesman said that he hadn't seen the subpoena or the documents.

About five hours were spent by agents with the US Department of Treasury to search Kelley's Tacoma home early this week. Kelley is not in the state and a statement has been issued by him that he doesn't have any information about investigation.

Allergy Sufferers May have Rough Spring

It seems allergy sufferers will have a rough spring. According to experts, the exceptionally warm weather is calling the season a little early this year and with that the pollination of trees and flowers all over the country comes. As per the experts, this season could be rough one.

San Francisco allergist Dr. Russell Leong said that they suggest people with allergies to avoid pollen. People are also suggested not to open the windows in their house and to make use of the air conditioning in their car to stay inside.

Scientists build Remote-Controlled Cyborg Beetle

Earlier, engineers had developed cockroach robots that could help humans by improving search and rescue efforts in emergency situation. Those robots could be controlled by using tiny wireless transmitters, which further could be controlled by humans. The robots have the ability to travel the locations where humans cannot go.

Now, a new study has looked into doing the same thing with beetles. The remote-controlled cyborg beetle has the ability to provide the same kind of results as cockroach robots. According to reports, researchers from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the University of California (UC) Berkeley have developed the remote-controlled cyborg beetle by installing a tiny backpack over a giant flower beetle.

GAP and IMI to Sign MOU to Speed up Alzheimer's Drug Development

An announcement has been made by the Global Alzheimer's Platform (GAP) and the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) that they are going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with an aim to speed up Alzheimer's drug development.

Alzheimer's drug development will be accelerated by building a global, standing, trial-ready platform for Alzheimer's drug development. The effort shows an important promise to come and work together to employ patients for clinical trials, to make a high-performing clinical trial system and to develop a standing adaptive protocol. This will help test new molecules rapidly and move those with assurance into later stage development.

Zion National Park Employee suffering from Tuberculosis

On Thursday, officials of Zion National Park said that one of the park's employees has tuberculosis (TB), an infectious bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which affects the lungs. While confirming the case, David Eaker, a spokesperson for Zion, said that a male employee working at the Zion Lodge informed the park officials about his test result on March 13.

Eaker further said that the officials have discussed the case with the Utah Public Health Department and the Public Health of the National Park Service. The agencies came and started investigating the person and who this person might have been in contact with and the locations where the person had visited earlier, Eaker added.
