Researchers Discover Numerous Dozens of Tombs containing Mummies

According to researchers, they have recently discovered numerous dozens of tombs that contain as many as 40 mummies. This discovery has been made near what is known to be a 1,200-year-old ceremonial site in the Cotahuasi Valley of Peru.

Archaeologists said that these tombs are situated on small hills that surround the ceremonial site. Up to now, the team of the researchers has unearthed seven tombs in order to find minimum 171 mummies. The scientists said that these mummies were moved before rigor mortis set in.

It seems that their knees had been shifted to reach shoulder level and then their arms were folded along their chest. The researchers have also found that the corpses were bound with rope and after that covered within layers of textiles.

Genes might explain a child’s lack of Motivation in School

A new research has revealed that genes might play a key role behind a child's lesser zeal to perform well in school.

When kids fall short of expectations or don't do well in school their parents, teachers or even society general blame them. However, the study claims that all these factors hardly play a role for poor performance of children.

The study was conducted by a research team led by Stephen Petrill, a professor of psychology at Ohio State University, on more than 13,000 twins from six countries.

The results revealed that genetic inheritance from children's parents could explain 40 to 50% of the differences in their kids' motivation to learn.

Smartphones could be used to detect earthquakes: Study

According to a new study published Friday in the journal Science Advances, a smartphone is capable enough to act as an earthquake early-warning system.

The researchers said that a smartphone already serves a number of purposes by acting as a camera, calculator, flashlight and a pedometer.

According to them, the GPS sensors built into most smartphones are sensitive enough to detect the earliest signs of quakes that are magnitude 7 and stronger. They said that those sensors could be used to give indication of seismic waves in few seconds.

Researchers explain why Moon and Earth are chemically similar

In a research published in the journal Nature, researchers have revealed what might be the reason behind the chemical similarity between Earth and Moon.

Researchers from the French University Bordeaux and Haifa-based Israel Institute of Technology explained that materials which formed Earth as well as the moon are more or less similar.

Computer simulations suggested that the after-effects of the great collision of Earth's twin and impactor called Theia might have accreted on Earth. It might have also been possible that a portion of the debris of Theia was ejected and coagulated, which formed the Moon.

Astronomers detect Building Blocks of Life near Young Star

A team of scientists has achieved a feat by finding complex organic molecules in a protoplanetary disc surrounding a young star for the first time ever in history. The significance of the molecules could be understood with the fact that they are building blocks of life, which gives rise to the belief for life beyond the solar system.

Details of the find have been published in the journal Nature. According to the scientists who performed the stint, large amounts of methyl cyanide (CH3CN) were detected by them in the protoplanetary disc surrounding the young star MWC 480.
