Melbourne, June 9 : The police chief of Australia''s Victoria state on Tuesday admitted that some of the attacks on Indian students across the country were racially motivated, as claimed by most of the Indian victims.

Victoria's chief commissioner of police Simon Overland said that some of the robbery attacks were racially motivated and others are were opportunistic.

"Whatever the motivation, the attacks are not okay. Violence is not okay, being robbed is not okay," Overland said.

Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir), June 9 : Security forces on Tuesday busted a militant hideout in Poonch and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

Acting on a tip off, the security forces launched a search operation and busted the hideout. The arms were just brought into the country from across the border, police said.

"It is a war like recovery for the security forces. We consider it as a big success as it was busted on time," said Javed Iqbal Mir, senior superintendent of police (operations), Poonch.

New Delhi, June 9 : Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad assured on Tuesday assured that adequate stock of medicines is available to check the swine flu and there is no need for panic following the outbreak of the disease.

The state government has stepped up the medical facilities in the capital and identified some major hospitals to admit emergency cases.

Attari (Punjab), June 9 : A team of specialists and physicians have been assigned by the government at Attari border railway station to screen and conduct health check-up of the passengers arriving from Pakistan.

"From Monday to Thursday the train arrives from Pakistan. We conduct proper medical check ups of the passengers especially the ones who come from the other side of the border. But till now we haven''t come across any case of Swine flu," said Dr. Rakesh Kumar.

Berlin - The socialist grouping in the European Parliament will oppose the re-election of European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso, the group's leader said on Tuesday after Barroso confirmed that he was running for re-election.

"Mr Barroso stands for a policy which we opposed in the (European Parliament) elections. I cannot recommend at the moment that my fraction supports Mr Barroso for a second term," Martin Schulz told Wednesday's edition of the Financial Times Deutschland newspaper.

Paris  - Former Austrian cyclist Bernhard Kohl, in an interview with Tuesday's edition of French sports daily L'Equipe, gave details of his doping regime during the
2008 Tour de France and said that all top 10 riders could have failed doping tests there.

"I am convinced that the top 10 could have tested positive," Kohl said. "It is strange that only three (riders) were caught."
