Washington - A Continental airlines pilot who died at the controls of a plane en route from Brussels to Newark, New Jersey may have suffered a heart attack, The New York Times reported Friday.

The death of Craig Alan Lenell, 60, on Thursday came as a shock to his family, because he had no history of health problems, according to his wife.

The Boeing 777 was landed safely by the two first officers who had extensive experience flying the plane. It was carrying 247 passengers on board in Newark.

London - Former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, 83, underwent an operation on her upper arm, following a fall, at a London hospital Friday.

Her son, Mark, said the surgery to insert a pin into a bone had been "successful."

He said he was "delighted and relieved," given his mother's age and the fact that general anaesthesia was required.

Doctors decided to insert the pin after the injury failed to heal as quickly as they would have liked.

Geneva - The United Nations announced Friday that it will live-stream footage for 12 hours from refugee camps in conflict zones on three continents to highlight the situation of displaced people on World Refugee Day.

The live video feeds, to start at 1400 GMT on Saturday, will broadcast from Iraq, Pakistan, a refugee camp in Africa and a displaced persons camp in Colombia, a UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) spokesman said.

Madrid - Ivan de la Pena is all set to continue at Spanish Liga club Espanyol, according to the websites of Catalan papers Sport and Mundo Deportivo on Friday.

De la Pena, 33, is about to extend his contract with Espanyol for two more years.

The club's sporting director German de la Cruz said on Friday that "we have the beginning of an agreement. When both parties want to continue, things are very easy."

Dhaka - More than 200 people gathered in Bangladesh's southern Cox's Bazar sea beach Friday asking the Myanmar junta to release pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who is facing trial for her alleged breach of the terms of her detention.

"Peace and democracy in Myanmar are impossible with the pro- democratic leader behind bars. We want Suu Kyi to be freed immediately," Mra Razalinn, the chairperson of Rakhaine Women's Union.

Washington - US President Barack Obama promised Friday to push for a comprehensive reform of US immigration laws, reviving another divisive issue that has confounded past administrations.

Speaking at a prayer breakfast before leaders of the Hispanic community in Washington, Obama said politicians should work to maintain "America's tradition as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants."
