As temperature in many regions across the world is rising, more animals are marching gradually towards North Pole and South Pole in search of cold environment. Professor Camille Parmesan from Plymouth University in the UK calls present migration as faster than earlier predicted by scientists. It was announced during a conference that was hosted jointly by the University of Tasmania and the Institute for Marine and Antarctica Studies.

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) first detected the gravitational waves on September 14 last year. Many experts believe the discovery could offer important clues in understanding the universe.

“Gravity can go into places in the universe that light cannot penetrate ... So, using these gravitational disturbances we may actually be able to study how black holes combine. We may be able to study even the Big Bang itself,” said Greene.

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a biochemical that makes it possible for internal energy to be transferred among cells. Now, scientists have devised a biological supercomputer that relies on ATP to solve complex problems with less energy.

Earlier supercomputer used synthetic semiconducting circuitry, while the new biological model has small sized ATP-powered protein strings. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) researchers have come up with a new way of predicting the onset of rogue waves, also known as killer waves.

So far, efforts for their prediction were restricted to expensive, inefficient, and time-consuming computer models that were focused on mapping out every single wave in a water body.

Published on February 11, in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, the latest method is simpler, easier, and faster. Aim of the new method is to give sailors and sea-platform workers a time range of two to three minutes to get ready, prepare, including closing down vital systems.

The telescope has acted as our planet’s window to the world outside. And it has sparked interest again with the so-called ‘blue bubble’.

The blue bubble is surrounding a Wolf-Rayet star present at a distance of around some 30,000 light years from earth and has been discovered in the Carina constellation.
