A new clinical trial has suggested that pregnant older women having their labor induced closer to their due date may not face elevated chances of requiring a cesarean section.

British researchers discovered that when older first-time moms had their labor induced in the 39th week of pregnancy, they didn’t face greater risk of a C-section or any kind of negative effects for themselves or their infants.

Medical experts working on the study, which appeared in the March 3 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, have suggested that labor induction is safer than doctors have previously thought.

However, the query is still there that whether there is any benefit of inducing labor when a woman has healthy pregnancy?

An uncommon condition called ‘broken heart syndrome’ is generally caused by an emotionally destructive or stressful event. Now, a latest European study has revealed that an individual can suffer from the condition as a result of happy events and positive emotions.

As per the findings, published on Thursday in the European Heart Journal, for the first time ever, researchers have associated pleasant experiences with broken heart syndrome, causing an unexpected, but temporary weakness in the heart muscle. However, a number of negative forms of emotional stress, such as anger, grief, fear, and anxiety, are known to prompt events of the condition.

In one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the past several decades, the remains of an Anglo-Saxon island that was home to a Middle Saxon settlement have been found at Little Carlton near Louth in Lincolnshire.

The findings have been reported by archaeologists from the University of Sheffield, who are of the opinion that their work has only revealed an enticing glimpse of the settlement so far. It is believed that the site is a previously unknown monastic or trading centre.

A newly published research has suggested that a dragonfly could be termed as the most prolific long-distance traveler that covers thousands of miles crossing oceans when it migrates from one continent to another.

Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) biologists, who led the study, said that the proof is in the genes. The study has been published in the journal PLOS ONE.

The research team discovered population of a dragonfly species known as Pantala flavescens, in areas as far apart as Texas, Korea, eastern Canada, India, Japan, and South America. They have similar genetic profile in these regions which hint at intermingling of species.

On Wednesday, astronaut Scott Kelly, NASA’s space-endurance champ, made a comeback to bitterly cold Kazakhstan, accompanied by Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko.

On reaching Earth, the astronaut’s first words were: “Ah nothing can match a blast of fresh, frigid air welcoming you back to your planet after being cooped up for roughly a year in space”.

Prior to starting journey for his hometown Houston, Kelly said in a NASA interview that it was “amazing” when he felt the cold air the moment the hatch of Soyuz capsule opened after touchdown.

He said that he doesn’t mean to say that it isn’t fresh on the space station, but mentioned that there was nothing like new cold air getting into the capsule.
