The Hubble space telescope has captured a picture of the farthest galaxy ever seen, named GN-z11, around 13.4 billion light years away from earth. The observation is expected to shed fresh light on the nature of the early universe.

The latest measurement, carried out by a team comprising scientists from Yale University, the Space Telescope Science Institute and the University of California, has broken the record set in 2012 when the telescope captured a dwarf galaxy that was 13.3 billion years old.

The NASA and the European Space Agency released the photo throwback on Thursday, which is a red dot above the big dipper. The spot is believed to have formed just 400 million years after the Big Bang, a moment that is learnt to have started the universe.

NASA astronaut Scott Kelly has returned to earth this week after spending 340 days in space. It was almost a year for all of us, but the record-breaking astronaut says it was like ‘forever’ in microgravity.

It was a very long trip to stay in microgravity, says Kelly. In a statement at NASA news conference on Friday, the 52-year old astronaut admits that one year at the International Space Station (ISS) was a long time. It was a way longer than thought, as per Kelly.

After facing rocket launch delay four times, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket has succeeded in blasting the SES-9 communications satellite into orbit on Friday. But the first stage of the rocket again failed to land on the company’s droneship in the ocean.

The rocket took off at 3:35 pm from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The latest try to launch the rocket was fifth of the space exploration company SpaceX. Before this, the company scrubbed the launch four times in the last week and a half.

Just three minutes after the liftoff, the Falcon 9 rocket’s first and second stages separated. The SES-9 communications satellite was carried by the second stage of the rocket. It was deployed 32 minutes after the launch.

Daily dose of aspirin may work against colon cancer and gastrointestinal tumors, according to a new study. With regular dose of Aspirin, the research team noticed a considerable reduction in certain cancers. However, the study team recommends that the dose should be taken daily for the result.

The research report has been published online on March 3 in the journal JAMA Oncology. According to the research, there is need of only low dose consumption of medicine everyday to get expected results. Daily consumption for almost six years could finally make the drug work against cancer illness. Aspirin is generally prescribed to treat mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever or inflammation.

Despite calls for its postponement following concerns raised by players over “mat herpes”, organizers of the state wrestling tournament are adamant on holding the event as per schedule.

Scientists have come up with a new wireless brain-machine interface (BMI) that can let monkeys control a wheelchair with their minds. A latest Duke University-led study appeared in Nature's Scientific Reports has revealed how the research team developed the brain-machine interface.

The researchers fixed two microelectrode arrays in the brains of two rhesus monkeys. They rooted them in the sites responsible for limb movement and planning. Thereafter, the wireless BMI changed their cortical activity for directing the speed and direction of the robotic wheelchair.

The research holds a lot of significance as it may eventually be used in helping paralyzed people move around using either a high-tech wheelchair or upgraded intelligent robotic devices.
