The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday approved Teva Pharmaceuticals’ Cinqair (reslizumab) for the treatment of severe asthma, after a study showed promising results.

Approving the drug, FDA said adult patients might take Cinqair together with other medicines for the treatment and maintenance of severe asthma. Asthmatic patients who have a history of severe attacks are expected to get significant respite from the supportive drug.

FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation & Research Director Badrul Chowdhury said, “Health care providers and their patients with severe asthma now have another treatment option to consider when the disease is not well controlled by their current asthma therapies.”

A serious brain infection caused by the toxoplasmosis parasite that is found in cat feces might be responsible for out of control, fiery bouts of anger such a road rage, according to a new research.

A team of researchers led by Chicago University’s Dr. Emil Coccaro studied more than 350 adults suffering from a psychiatric disorder called Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED), and found that such individuals were twice as prone to have been infected by the toxoplasmosis parasite as compared with other individuals.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) will observe World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on Thursday, March 24, to raise awareness about the potentially life-threatening disease.

A group of researchers studied the potential impact that physical exercise can have on a person’s aging brain health, and found that older adults who reported light or no physical exercise experienced a notable cognitive decline equal to then more years of aging as compared with other people who reported moderate to intense physical exercise.

Dr. Clinton B. Wright, a professor at University of Miami who authored the study, noted that regular physical exercise can help older people keep their cognitive abilities for a longer time.

Less than three per cent people in the United States live a healthy lifestyle by getting a moderate amount of exercise, eating the right food and avoiding smoking, a new study has revealed. Researchers analyzed data on more than 4,700 people who participated in the U.S. National Health & Nutrition Survey, focusing on four general principles of healthy living -- a healthy diet, moderate exercise, keeping body fat under control and not smoking.

On Wednesday, Japanese newspaper Nikkei said that Nintendo is going to cease production on its Wii U gaming console for clearing the way for the approaching Nintendo NX console.

According to Nikkei, the main reasons behind Nintendo’s move to cease production on the Wii U would be fading popularity and poor sales particularly knowing the massive success of its predecessor, the Wii.

As per the reports, the development of the console is difficult because of the Wii U and its tablet-like controller’s unique nature. The company would apparently be planning to clear inventory for making space for Nintendo NX.
