The Election Commission of India has issued notice to Delhi Education and Tourism Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely for alleged violation of the model electoral code of conduct.

The notice was served on Saturday and The EC sought his reply by Sunday evening.

The allegation was- Lovely, who is contesting the assembly election from Gandhi Nagar constituency, used his official writing pad with the national emblem embossed on it to appeal to the electors to vote for him, said an official of EC.

"In that appeal, he also highlighted his achievements as a minister," he said.

"We have decided to afford Lovely an opportunity to furnish an explanation as to why action should not be taken for the alleged violation of the model code of conduct," he added.
