Jakarta - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono left Jakarta Thursday for a two-week overseas trip, during which he is to attend a Group of 20 (G20) meeting in Washington, followed by an Asia-Pacific regional summit in Peru.

The first stop for Yudhoyono - who was being accompanied by his wife, Ani Yudhoyono, and a number of cabinet ministers - was to be the United States, where he was to arrive Friday.

During his stay there, Yudhoyono was scheduled to attend the G20 summit of leading industrialized countries and emerging economies and hold bilateral talks with leaders who were to include Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso, World Bank President Robert Zoellick and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

Presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal was quoted as saying by the state-run Antara news agency that during his US stay, Yudhoyono would not meet with US president-elect Barack Obama but the two were to arrange a telephone call.

On Sunday, Yudhoyono and his entourage were scheduled to leave Washington for Mexico City for a two-day visit, during which he planned talks with President Felipe Calderon, Antara said.

The Indonesian leader was to then leave for Brazil for a two-day trip before proceeding to Lima for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum November 20-23.

Yudhoyono and his entourage were expected to return to Jakarta November 26. (dpa)
