Wiesmann launches 20th birthday special edition
Duelmen, Germany - The niche German sports car maker Wiesmann is marking its 20th birthday by launching a special edition of its three model segments.
Based in the western German town of Duelmen, the firm was established in 1988 with the aim of building puristic sports cars in a classic design.
The 20th Anniversary Editions include the MF3 two-seater roadster, the MF4 closed-top Grand Tourer and the M5-powered MF5.
Only 30 units of the MF3 Roadster are planned, fitted with the BMW M3 CSL powerplant which is being upgraded to 360 hp. Only 20 units each are planned for the MF4 and MF5.
The special editions are being planned in three colour packages including a sport trim in piano-black with red and black interior.
For 135,000 euros (169,000 dollars) Wiesmann is also offering a wider rear and a special anniversary interior trim.
Wiesmann currently sells 50 per cent of its annual production of 200 cars in Germany with the remainder exported to mainly European markets. (dpa)
