There is a possibility that the Union Home Ministry might enhance the security coverage of Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

Paswan is now provided with Z-category security. But after the land mine blasts in West Bengal, his party Lok Janshakti Party had written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking Z-plus security for its chief Paswan.

But Home Ministry will take a final decision after reviewing the over all situation. "We will certainly look into the matter soon" said an official of the Ministry.

On 2 November Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Union Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan had a narrow escape when suspected Maoists triggered a mine blast near a road in West Midnapore, minutes after their convoy had passed by.

Minister of state for steel Jitin Prasada was also accompanying them.

West-Midnapore is naxal affected district.

After the blast Center had sought a detailed report from WB Govt. relating to this matter.
