Kathmandu, Nov 3: The two major parties of the Nepalese ruling alliance — CPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML — formed a 12-member joint committee to suggest ways to run the government and to smooth out the souring relations between the two parties.

A meeting of the top leaders of the two communist parties held on Sunday at the UML parliamentary party office today formed the coordination committee comprising six members from each party.

"A joint coordination committee has been formed to hold discussions on mutual relations between the two parties and to advise the government," said Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, emerging from the meeting.

Former UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal leads the party in the committee, while Mohan Baidya leads the CPN-Maoist, Kantipur online reported.

"We decided to further discuss the issues relating to government operation tomorrow," said UML leader Bhim Rawal.

The UML leader informed that the parties have decided to table the draft of the committee''s functioning and working style.

Maoist leaders Baburam Bhattarai, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Dev Gurung, Barsa Man Pun and Dinanath Sharma and UML leaders Bharat Mohan Adhikari, KP Oli, Bamdev Gautam, Bhim Rawal and Bidya Devi Bhandari are the members of the committee.

Besides the formation of the committee, the ruling partners have formed two separate investigation committees to look into the clash between their cadres that erupted in Dhading and Taplejung districts.

The cadres of Maoist youth front Young Communist League (YCL) and UML''s Youth Force have been engaged in frequent clashes in various parts of the country in recent times.

They also discussed the inclusion of the opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) representative into the special committee for army integration. They have agreed to take measures from their side to persuade the NC to join the committee. (ANI)
