Islamabad, Dec 1: A 13-member delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) is in India to promote bilateral trade between the business communities of India and Pakistan.

The delegation will identify items to be traded with India.

The ICCI delegation is representing major sectors such as steel, textile, flour, pipe industries, jewellery, pharmaceuticals, hotel business, and automobles.

A part of the delegation would also be scouting for investment opportunities in India, the Daily Times reported.

"Trade between India and Pakistan has jumped from 161.02 million dollar in 1999-2000 to above 1.5 billion dollar in 2006-07," said Nasir Khan, President ICCI.

He further said that Indo-Pak bilateral trade has the potential to reach nine billion dollar in a few years is tariff and non-tariff barriers are removed.

The delegation comprising, Tariq Sadiq, Munawar Moughal, Malik Sohail Hussain, Zafar Iqbal Bukhtawari, Ch. Waheed Ul Din, Rafiq Minhas, Mohammed Naeem Sidiqui, Mohammad Ishtiaq Qureshi, Mohammad Aslam Bahuta, Abbas Hashimi and Waqar Zafar Bukhtawari will exchange views with leading Indian investors. (ANI)
