Lakme Fashion Week Is On In Mumbai
The fashion fads could not have asked for more. Fashion fever is in the air, as two mega fashion weeks concludes in Delhi, Mumbai is the next spot to check out for, as the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) makes a mark this Monday.
The LFW will showcase 75 designers with their collections. The designers who have just got free from their shows in the capital are now gearing up for the same in Mumbai. While some designers are happy about their preoccupation others find it stressful.
As pointed out by one designer, "It's difficult, as the shows are taking place one after the other but it's what every designer wants, so why complain" comments Vikram Phadnis while Vineet Bahl another from the same fraternity is on an optimistic note, "The buyers are different so the market increases which is good both for the designers and the fashion industry."
The five day long event will present lucrative options for all the genres yet the main focus this time around will be upon accessories and menswear segment. The first day of the show saw Delhi designers Shantanu and Nikhil, present at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week too, ordained the models with their collection of gowns, dresses and coats in red, black and grey. During the second show of the day One, three different designers-Asmita Marwah, Ruchi Mehta and Stae by Sudhir and Tapash showcased their spring collection.
The atmosphere was not sizzling as was expected yet someone from film industry was seen as jubilant and enthusiastic, the Director Madhur Bhandarkar who promoted his soon to be released movie ‘Fashion’ encouraged the dress designer of his film, Narendra Kumar Ahmad who is one of the designers in LFW.
The protagonists of the movie presented before the audience Narendra’s new label Nari Nari exclusively made for the young fashionable woman. While the LFW had a sluggish start, the designers hope for a better response in the days to follow.
