2,900 government doctors in Orissa to resign on Aug 29
Bhubaneswar, Aug 22 : The delay in implementation of measures announced by Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik might lead to mass resignation by Government doctors on August 27.
Over 2900 doctors working in government hospitals in Orissa have threatened to tender mass resignation on August 27.
The Orissa Medical Service Association (OMSA) president Madhusudan Mishra said, "Nearly 2900 doctors working in government hospitals will resign from their posts to protest against the non-implementation of announcements made by the Chief Minister."
The doctors claimed that Patnaik had made a six-point announcement on the Assembly floor six months ago, in response to their demands.
Patnaik had announced that the doctors would get a salary of Rs 8,000 and status of junior Class-I at the entry level, special allowance of Rs 3,000 per month, post mortem allowance of Rs 500 per case, restructuring of cadre, a transparent transfer policy and a legislation to ensure their protection.
