Bratislava  - Two people drowned Wednesday in local floods in eastern Slovakia, CTK news agency reported citing rescue officials.

The victims were a man and his sister who attempted to pull him out from a raging stream in a village of Circ in the Stara Lubovna district.

Heavy rains have so far flooded 36 villages in eastern Slovakia, officials said. Circ was among those worst hit. (dpa)
