Magnitude-6 quake hits southern Japan, no casualties

Tokyo - A magnitude-6 earthquake hit the southern Japanese islands of Okinawa and Amami Tuesday, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said. 

No tsunami warning was issued and no casualties have been reported. 

The epicentre was located about 50 kilometres deep in waters near the southernmost islands of Okinawa and Amami. (dpa)
