Thai women can finally choose if they are a Miss or a Mrs
Bangkok - Dozens of women took advantage of a Thai law that became effective Wednesday giving them the right to choose if they are a Miss or a Mrs, local media reported.
Most who went to district government offices Wednesday to change their titles were divorced and wanted to be Miss again after years being a Mrs.
"I am very happy to go back to Miss again. It is wrong that women had to still be Mrs after divorce," Pirana Tohsophon, 60, who remained a Mrs for 30 years after she was divorced, told local television.
Before the new law went into effect when a woman got married she had to change her title to Mrs, and had to keep that title even if she got divorced or became a widow. (dpa)
