Kabul  - Afghan woman killed, five wounded in bomb blast in KabulA remote-controlled bomb that targeted an Afghan army bus in capital Kabul on Sunday killed one woman and wounded one civilian and three soldiers, officials said.

The bomb, hidden on a road divider in western part of Kabul city, was remotely detonated as an army bus was passing by, defence ministry said in a statement.

"Three army officers, two civilians were wounded and one civilian, who was a woman, was martyred in the attack,' the statement said.

The mini-bus that was carrying the army officers to a military academy was damaged in the blast, a police official at the site of the attack said.

The attack came a day after a suicide bomber in eastern city of Jalalabad on Saturday killed two NATO soldiers and wounded four others. The attack in Nangarhar provincial capital also wounded five civilians.

On Thursday in a another suicide attack in eastern part of Kabul city, three civilians were killed and eight others including four NATO soldiers were wounded.

Taliban recently heavily rely on use of suicide and roadside attacks as part of their campaign to topple the Western-backed Afghan government and force out some 70,000 international troops from the war-ravaged country. (dpa)
