Man, woman who both changed sex set to marry in Mexico
Mexico City - A man and a woman are set to get married Saturday in Mexico City, but there will be something peculiar about the wedding: they are both transsexuals, and Jose Mauricio is the bride while Maria del Socorro will become her husband.
Following a four-year relationship, both are set to seal their union in the Mexican capital on the International Day Against Homophobia, the Mexican daily El Universal reported Monday.
However, the couple will have to use their birth names, for lack of legislation that allows them to use the names they chose to represent their new condition: Jose Mauricio is now Diana Laura, while Maria del Socorro has become Mario.
Mario, 55, is a pensioner and shows a beard, as a result of hormonal treatment. He had his breasts removed by surgery six years ago, although he still has female genitals.
Diana Laura, 45, who holds a university degree in electro- mechanical engineering, has long hair and a woman's body, after undergoing surgery to change gender in September.
"God does not make mistakes. But nature does," said Mario, who claims he has felt like a man since he was born. (dpa)
