The 55-year-old actor and activist was at the United Nations, attending a round-table with President Barack Obama on the refugee crisis, when a CNN reporter approached him to ask about his close friends' new relationship status, reports E! Online.
"I didn't know that. I feel very sorry then. That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family," he shared.
"It's an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that. That's the first I've heard of it," the 'The Descendants' star added in surprise.
The Internet went erratic a day ago after reports of the famous Hollywood couple heading for the splitsville was flashed.
41-year-old Angelina Jolie had filed the divorce with her 52-year-old husband on the grounds of "irreconcilable differences."
"Angelina is very dedicated to her work with the United Nations and working on other charitable endeavors while Brad is consumed with his film projects," an insider revealed.
