New 911 Dispatcher Saves A Newborn

A couple from Utah cannot thank William Kalaher, a new 911 dispatcher, enough after he helped them deliver their baby girl safely and also saved her life. The couple, Shay and Kristin Allred, was on their way to the hospital when Kristen had to give the birth to the baby girl in the car. Soon after the birth the couple realized that the baby was not breathing, since the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck. Kalaher helped the couple throughout this ordeal.

Kalaher received a call from the couple when they were on going to Salt Lake City hospital for Kristin’s delivery. However, before they could reach the hospital, it was time for the bay to come. The couple immediately called 911 and Kalaher, who was appoibnted just two weeks earlier, took the call.

“We were really close [to the hospital]; I just felt like I needed to start pushing. From when we started talking to 911, within a minute I had given birth,” Said Kristin.

Without any delay, the mother took the bay in her arms and placed her on her chest. However, the couple realized that the infant was not breathing. Since, Kalaher was still on line with them, he told Kristin to change the position of the baby so as to unwrap the umbilical cord which suffocated the baby. The couple was relieved after their new born started breathing with instruction from the dispatcher. The couple has named the baby Anne.
