American astronaut Scott Kelly missing Fresh Air aboard ISS

US astronaut Scott Kelly is on a special year-long mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission began in March this year. It has been about six months of the astronaut aboard the space station and now, he is missing fresh air.

On Monday, the 51-year-old NASA astronaut said he misses fresh air, but is adapting well. In 2012, Kelly was selected for the mission the longest ever attempted at the ISS. According to the United States space agency, the year-long mission will help in understanding how human body responds to longtime in space. The agency will use the mission’s results in its future human mission to Mars.

During an interview from the space station in low-earth orbit, Kelly said he is missing fresh air, but feels pretty good overall. Cosmonaut Mikhail Korniyenko, who is with Scott Kelly for the year-long mission aboard the ISS, did not participate in the interview.

Talking about his experience aboard the space station, Kelly said, “What I am looking most forward to is just getting to the end of it with as much energy and enthusiasm as I had at the beginning”. Apart from Kelly and Korniyenko, Kelly’s brother is also part of the mission, but he is participating from earth.

During the interview, the astronaut was asked what he missed the most about earth. Kelly said being with those individuals who care about you, friends, family members and going outside without any fear.
