Treasure Coast pest control company ordered to stop fumigation

According to a report, a Treasure Coast pest control company has been ordered by the state to a stop fumigations after a Palm City boy fell ill. As per the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Sunland Pest Control has been asked to stop fumigation.

The EPA and the Department of Health are looking into the matter. The boy, Peyton McCaughey fell ill following SunLand, a contractor used by Terminix, tented his family’s home. Symptoms of the condition are nausea, after that loss of control over muscles and eventually the ability to speak, according to WPTV.

Sulfuryl Fluoride is the chemical that is used in fumigation, according to investigators. According to doctors, fumigation chemicals could be hazardous if they are inhaled and they have severe impact on children for the reason that they are smaller.

The family of the boy said that he was taken to the hospital where he was admitted for weeks following getting exposed to chemicals of fumigation. According to the family of Peyton McCaughey, in August, their home in Palm City, Florida, was fumigated and after that, many family members got sick and Peyton was affected the most.

Greg Martini, director of public relations at the Lytal, Reiter, Smith, Ivey & Fronrath law firm, which is working with the family, said, “There's lots of things to cover and we're not at the 50 yard line. Investigating all aspects from what parties were involved to what chemicals were involved”.
