Twin girls who were connected at the chest and abdomen were separated through a surgery in February and have even been discharged from hospital. Both will get the opportunity to go home on Mother’s Day. Knatalye Hope Mata and her twin Adeline Faith Mata were released on Friday. Both were separated when they were just ten months old. A 26-hour surgery separated the two and operation was successful.

According to hospital officials, Adeline Faith will continue staying at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston; she will be sent home once she recovers. According to the Houston Chronicle, in April 2014, Knatalye Hope and Adeline Faith were born in Texas and Elysse and John Eric are there parents, who also have a son before their twin daughters.

Both were told regarding their twin girls and it was found that the girls were having the same lungs, chest wall, pericardial sac (the lining of the heart), diaphragm, intestines, liver, colon and pelvis after they were born.

Weight of each girl was nearly three-and-a-half pounds at birth. A team of over 26 clinicians, together with 12 surgeons, six anesthesiologists and eight surgical nurses at the Texas Children's Hospital performed the surgery to separate the twin girls.

Their mother Elysse said that she has no words to express gratitude to the surgeons for doing this as her daughters will now live separate lives.

According to her, “We know how much planning and time went into this surgery and we are so blessed to be at a place like Texas Children's where we have access to the surgeons and caretakers that have made this dream a reality”.
