Crane High School battling Chlamydia outbreak
Crane High School is Texas is witnessing Chlamydia outbreak. Currently, 300 students at the school have been diagnosed with the disease, which is treatable.
Strange part of the story is that school authorities think that God has cursed them with the boils of Egypt. Members of the Texas educational system are baffled with the news and have claimed that it impossible to have the sexually transmitted disease at the campus.
The school does not provide sexual education. In fact, it depends on a faith-based abstinence-only program. One administrator affirmed that their school children do not have sexual relations.
Many of the representatives from the district have refused to link the outbreak with a sexually transmitted disease. They think that the God has sent a disease to the school as a divine punishment.
Reason behind the curse is that very few people attended anti-Islamic "Draw Muhammad" contest organized by Pamela Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) and another event, Stop Islamization of America (SIOA).
The Southern Poverty Law Center has termed both of them as hate groups. Farley Huntsacker, a PTA member, said that it is the people who should be blamed not these contests. It is now said that officials are planning to implement compulsory prayer sessions throughout the school day. Second step is to give all academic lessons on the basis of the teachings of the Bible.
The school has sent a letter to parents in which it has said that Crane Independent School District does not offer a curriculum in human sexuality. For them, teaching children about their bodies is in fact illegal.
They would rather make parents aware or more aware of the problem that has been identified in teenagers and young adults of the community.
