Ivory poaching could make elephants, rhinos extinct within 20 yrs
London, Oct 4 : Conservation campaigners have let out the warning that due to poaching of ivory, elephants and rhinos could be wiped out within the next two decades.
According to the Independent, wildlife campaigners said that according to the reports almost 35,000 elephants and 1,000 rhinos were sacrificed to fulfill the demand for ivory and rhino horn.
The warning comes right before the start of Global March for Elephants and Rhinos, which would see hundreds of people to march through London wearing elephant and rhino masks, calling for measures to solve the issue and worldwide ban on the trade of ivory and rhino horn.
Co-organiser of the London march, Maria Mossman of Action4 Elephants, said it was frightening to think that the two extraordinary species could be extinct in such a short period of time, and they were just ordinary people who wanted to do something about it. (ANI)
