Jeera settled up 0.57% at 11475 on short covering after prices dropped due to fresh supplies in international market along with limited buying interest among stockists and exporters at current levels. Moreover, speculators reduced positions on the back of lower demand in the spot market which mainly kept pressure on jeera prices. In Jodhpur arrivals were reported at 500 quintals, down by 100 quintals as against previous day.

In Delhi total arrivals are at 10000 quintals, unchanged as compared to previous day's arrival. In Mehsana sources reported arrivals at 12000 quintals, higher by 3000 quintals from previous trading day. In Rajkot arrivals were reported at 360 quintals, up by 60 quintals from previous day's arrivals. Arrivals remained low but low demand in mandis was unable to provide any clear direction to the price movements. Area under jeera in Gujarat was reported at 455,000 ha as against 335,200 ha last year while about 390,000 ha were sown in Rajasthan.

Geo-political tensions in Syria and Turkey have led to a supply crunch in the global markets raising supply concerns from the two major exporting countries. Export orders are diverted to India. Production is also expected to fall in Syria and Turkey due to crop failure. In Unjha, a key spot market in Gujarat, jeera edged down by -16.85 rupees to end at 11334.45 rupee per 100 kg. Technically market is under fresh buying as market has witnessed gain in open interest by 9.07% to settled at 5376 while prices up 65 rupee, now Jeera is getting support at 11347 and below same could see a test of 11218 level, And resistance is now likely to be seen at 11567, a move above could see prices testing 11658.
