New Delhi, Feb 6 : Alleging Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi of ‘blowing hot air and misleading the people’, the Congress party on Wednesday said that his speech at the Sri Ram Collage of Commerce (SRCC) here is not backed by any substantive or concrete achievement on the ground.

Referring to Modi’s address to the students at SRCC earlier in the day, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Manish Tewari said that the Gujarat Chief Minister has made a reference to a cliché called P2 and G2, but he did not mention a single word about Gujarat massacre.

“P2 essentially stands for platitude personified, i. e. patting yourself in the back when you have no achievement to account for, and G2 literally translated as geo-global. I am surprised that he made no reference to the Gujarat-programme throughout his entire speech, which continues to be a blot and stain on the fair name of the state,” said Tewari.

“He conveniently forgot that even in terms of GDP and foreign investments, Gujarat doesn’t even stand in the first five states of the country. His speech is not backed by any substantive or concrete achievement on the ground,” he added.

Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said: “It was the vision of our late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi that the 21st century will be India’s century. He had dreamt to make India a nation of mouse-charmers. So, all credit goes to the congress party and our government.”

Lauding good governance and development in Gujarat, Modi said that the youth of the nation have immense potential and they have changed the perception of the country in the world from a nation of snake charmers to mouse-charmers.

Prior to his visit and during his speech in the prestigious college of Delhi University, Modi faced protests from Left wing students organisations like AISA (All India Student Association) and AISF (All India Students Federation), who opposed Modi, alleging him for Gujarat riots in 2002.

The students, who raised slogans of “Narendra Modi Go Back”, were later baton charged by the police personnel, as Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 in the area. (ANI)
