Three killed in Naga factional violenceKohima, April 18 : Talks between the Indian Government and leaders of the NSCN (IM) may be going in New Delhi, but violence in Nagaland is showing no signs of abating.

On Friday, tension prevailed in areas in and around Dimapur after three persons were killed in factional violence.

Two cadres of the NSCN/GPRN and one of the NSCN (IM) were killed in broad daylight.

SS 2nd ‘Lt Alex Sumi’ and ‘Sgt Major Sukuithong’ were shot dead when their gypsy was chased and attacked by gunmen with AK 47 assault rifles.

In other incident ss Capt Shamthar Tangkhul of NSCN (IM) succumbed to his injuries at the Zion Hospital, Dimapur.

One NSCN (IM) cadre was kidnapped from Wungram colony. He was identified as Achumbemo Lotha.

Nagaland's Home Minister Imkong L. Imchen condemned the killings.

“At a time when the Nagas are crying for peace, unity and reconciliation among the different Naga groups, it is unfortunate that ugly incidents of factional violence and abduction are taking place in the heart of Dimapur town,” Imchen stated.

He appealed to the district administration to take stringent measures to avoid such incidents, and called on all sections of Naga people to condemn such detrimental acts in society. (ANI)
