Mamata Banerjee aiming to create 10 million jobs in West BengalWest Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who single handedly pushed out the long ruling left parties from the state, has said that she is aiming to create as many as one crore job opportunities in the state through promotion of small-scale industries.

The figure of 1 crore of 10 million is interestingly much larger than the registered unemployed of 2.5 lakh in the state. She announced that she will work to create job opportunities and also proposed building two deep sea ports in the state.

"I don't think big industries are the only way. Medium and small-scale industries too, can contribute a lot. Personally, I prefer small scale industries and Bengal has immense potential in this sector," chief minister said.

She announced plans to build clusters and connecting them to the foreign markets. She also said that the there are one crore unemployed in the state and the government is trying different ways to employ all of them. She was speaking at an event of Dhunseri group's new petrochemicals unit at Haldia.

About the new deep sea ports, she said that the land has already been cited at Rosulpur in East Midnapore district and the Sunderbans. The government is expected to formally announce the projects soon.
