Samsung releases upgradeable Televisions
South Korean electrics giant, Samsung has released a new smart, internet-connected television that can be upgraded when new hardware is released by the company every year.
The new ES8000 model will come with a slot that will allow the company to release new additions to add processing power or new features to the device. The new unit will attract customers who are concerned out expensive TV sets becoming outdates too soon. The launch of the new Television is aimed at enabling Samsung to remain as the world's best-selling TV maker.
Boo-keun Yoon, President of consumer electronics at Samsung unveiled firm's flagship LED television at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. He pointed out that the company sells two televisions every two seconds.
The company has also added gesture, voice and face recognition features, besides the option of being upgraded, to the ES8000 model. The set has a built-in camera allowing users to surf the internet through the wave of their hand and change the channel by speaking in more than 20 languages supported. The company has also included facial recognition facility that allows the set to reveal favorite set of apps after recognizing the user.
Meanwhile, the company also said that it ill offer free access to a new Angry Birds on-demand animated television channel to its users.
