Aston Martin Makes Entry In Indian Market
The UK-based luxury and sports car manufacturer Aston Martin has forayed into the Indian market with the introduction of its complete range that consists of the V12 Vantage, V8 Vantage Roadster, V8 Vantage Coupe, DB9 Volante, DB9 Coupe, Virage, V8 Vantage S, and the four door sports car Rapide.
The price range of the luxury cars launched in India begins from Rs 1.35 crore and goes up to Rs 20 crore.
At a price of Rs 20 crore, the One-77 model is the most pricey in the company's line-up at the moment.
The company will manufacture only 77 units of this car, out of which consumers have already placed order for 72.
Senior functionaries stated that talks with some potential Indian buyers are going on and hopes to lock a contract shortly.
Over a dozen cars were reserved by Indian consumers even before the official launch.
Aston Martin eyes to market around 30 units during the initial year.
Besides, the company would also roll out a small city car in the country by 2012, projected to be the priciest small car ever in India.
The Aston Martin Cygnet is a two-seater, constructed mainly for the Europe and priced at ¤40,000 (Rs 26,00,000).
The Cygnet will be brought to the Indian market as a completely built car and, hence, it is likely to attract duties and taxes that would efficaciously double up its cost.
At about Rs 5,200,000, the Cygnet will be the most valuable of its kind.
Performance Cars Director Lalit Choudhary stated, "We will launch the Cygnet in India once we get homologation for the car. It is lengthy process but we will launch it in India next year. It will be the cheapest Aston Martin to own."
Performance Cars is an arm of Infinity Cars, which also has a franchise of BMW cars in the states of Maharashtra as well as Madhya Pradesh.
