Zardari, Sharif remain committed to restoring sacked judges

Islamabad, Apr. 8: Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif Leaders of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have reiterated their commitment to resolve the country's judicial crisis, but cautiously.

Though their exists a difference of opinion on the issue, both Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif are said to be in complete harmony on the issue of restoration of superior court judges to the pre-November 3 status as per the Mureee-Bhurban Summit Declaration.

The declaration states that superior court judges sacked by the Musharraf regime last year will be restored to their positions within 30 days of coming into being of the National Assembly.

Sources close to the leadership of both parties disclosed to The Nation that the issue of judiciary is almost settled and the decision would be acceptable all the stakeholders —the lawyers, the political parties, judges and the presidential camp.

These sources further said that it would be a win-win situation and the decision would be up to the satisfaction of all the stakeholders. (ANI)
