Oil mafia gripped Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh
Oil company's officials said that after oil mafia affecting Maharashtra's fuel market has now turned its moves to Andhra Pradesh.
Officials of the oil company ensure that adulteration of fuel is less at petrol bunks in the city because of the active monitoring carried out by field officers, vigilance officials and mobile laboratories to check the samples regularly. He also said that density is checked at the time of receiving at the location so there are minimal chances of adulteration.
But there are other facts which are dangerous. Kerosene being cheaper fuel available in the market is intentionally blended with petrol for getting short term benefits but in reality it is doing a great harm to our environment.
It is believed that kerosene causes three times pollution as compared to petrol.
As per sources, this adulteration took place during transporting the fuel through tankers. They have made their stoppage points where pumps are used to carry out adulteration.
They blend kerosene which is Rs 25 per liter in the black market but at fair shop at a price of Rs 13.5 liter with costly diesel which is available at Rs 41.86 per litre.
Another official said that many people are using kerosene in their vehicles although it is reducing the life span of engine but the difference in money is so much that they can replace their engines every four years.
Petrol is available at a price of Rs 62 per liter whereas adulterated petrol is available at half that price. So it proves profitable for owners to buy adulterated tankers, as per Legal Metrology department.
